Ana Kapodistria experiments with light, using film to transform and capture the transient nature of her subjects. She started developing negatives and prints in her makeshift darkroom by the age of fourteen. Ana is a photo-based artist born in Canada and of Greek heritage. Her landscapes are charged by human presence, expressing sensation and synthesis into the natural world. Ana is noted for developing a style that fuses the intrinsic properties of film with untraditional applications. Her work investigates themes exploring the limitations and unbounded nature of the human condition and its relation to both natural and man-made environments. These themes are often used in conjunction with issues of time and space, executed with a visually animated approach. Ana is a graduate of Ryerson University's School of Image Arts and has exhibited her work internationally. She was selected as a Canadian winner on the Magenta Foundation’s Flash Forward - Emerging Photographers list in 2012.
